How can we support impoverished parts of the world in this time of increasing disparity between rich and poor and climate change? Witney Futures Group and our partners Geode Energy, supported by the American International School in Niamey, have submitted an application to Innovate UK for assessing and providing small scale energy generation and storage to the rural community on Kanazi Island on the River Niger in sub-Saharan Africa. This will generate not only sustainable energy but also revenue, education and training, wildlife tourism opportunities and community facilities in one of the very poorest parts of the world. Fingers crossed for a beneficial outcome.
